Department for Transitional Justice and Support to Crime Victims

The duties and responsibilities of the Department for Transitional Justice and Support to Crime Victims shall be as follows:

 

1.1. propose policies and normative acts related to the area of ​​transitional justice.

1.2. provide support in collecting and documenting facts related to war crimes committed in Kosovo until 10 June 1999;

 

1.3. provide support in war damage identification, documentation, and assessment;

1.4. propose policies and normative acts on the status and treatment of victims of war;

1.5. in cooperation with the Legal Department, propose and support legal actions related to war crimes committed in Kosovo that are not of criminal nature;

1.6. support co-operation and co-ordination of institutions in the field of war crimes within the competence of the Ministry of Justice;

1.7. examine the compensation request of crime victims;

1.8. provide the necessary administrative and technical support to the crime victim compensation committee;

1.9. keep records of the requests by registering them in the special registry for victim compensation in numerical order and inform the Crime Victim Compensation Committee.

2.The Head of the Department for Transitional Justice and Support to Crime Victims shall report to the Secretary General.

3. The Department for Transitional Justice and Support to Crime Victims shall comprise the following divisions:

3.1. Division for Transitional Justice;

  1. Division for Crime Victim

 Compensation.

  1. Number of staff in the Department for Transitional Justice and Support to Crime Victims shall be seven (7).
