Kosovo Ranks First in the Western Balkans in Respecting Rule of Law

Prishtina, 23/04/2020

Based on this assessment, the Republic of Kosovo ranked first in the Western Balkans for respecting the rule of law, leaving behind Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania, and Bosnia.

According to the same index, the Republic of Kosovo ranked second in regards to the respect of the rule of law in the entire region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, with only Georgia ranking higher.

Government of the Republic of Kosovo through the Ministry of Justice will continue to ensure the inclusion of Kosovo in this index in the coming years, as only with objective and measurable data can proper policies be drafted, contributing to the process of Functional review of the Rule of Law and the justice system in general for the benefit of the citizens.

The latest World Justice Project Rule of Law Index relies on national surveys of more than 130,000 households and 4,000 legal practitioners and experts to measure how the rule of law is perceived worldwide.
