Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Prof. Dr. Hajredin Kuçi, today hosted a delegation from the French Parliament composed of Senator Jean-Pierre Michel and Senator Patrice Gerald, who also are members of the France-Kosovo friendship group, accompanied by Ambassador of France in Kosovo, Maryse Daviet.
Deputy Prime Minister Kuçi thanked the French senators for their visit in Kosovo and for the continued support that France has given and continues to give, especially in the processes which Kosovo is going through.
French senators said they have been monitoring the situation in Kosovo for a long time now and think that Kosovo is a good example in the region for the progress made.
The meeting also focused on the Kosovo-Serbia agreement and on local elections which are to be held in Kosovo, whereas the French senators said they expect the implementation of this agreement and the participation of Serbs in the elections so that they are integrated into the institutions of the Republic Kosovo.
Minister Kuçi said that Kosovo has supported and continues to support the values of democracy and peace, promising the fulfillment of all the obligations intended to achieve the full normalization of relations with Serbia.
Furthermore, Minister Kuçi informed the senators on the actions of the Kosovo institutions for the rule of law, the establishment of modern legal framework and international standards, the independence of judiciary, etc.
It was also discussed on the possibility of Kosovo's membership in the International Assembly of Lawyers, the deepening of the cooperation between the Kosovo Assembly and the French Assembly and the cooperation between the universities in Kosovo and France.
