The Division for Coordination of the Process for Legal Protection and Financial Support of Potentially Accused Persons in Judicial Processes at the Specialized Chambers was established through the amendment of the Regulation on Internal Organization of the Ministry of Justice (QRK REGULATION – NO. 12/2018 FOR AMENDMENT AND COMPLETION REGULATION OF THE ROC – NO. 31/2013 ON THE INTERNAL ORGANIZATION OF THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE, hereafter Regulation ROC 12/2018) which was approved at the 59th meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo by Decision no. 06/59 dated 31.07.2018.

The establishment of this Division is a consequence of the obligations arising for the Ministry of Justice from Article 7 of the Law on Legal Protection and Financial Support of Potentially Accused Persons in judicial proceedings before the Specialized Chambers, which aims to provide legal protection and financial support to persons potential accused in judicial processes and related procedures, for alleged crimes before the Specialized Chambers.

The duties and responsibilities of the Division for Coordination of the Process for Legal Protection and Financial Support of Potentially Accused Persons in Judicial Processes at the Specialized Chambers which derive from QRK Regulation 12/2018) are:

• Coordinates and takes care of the realization of trips to visit close family members of persons accused of alleged crimes in court proceedings at the Specialized Chambers (hereinafter: close family members);
• Decides on the party’s request for travel compensation for visiting close family members;
• Takes care of booking travel tickets and hotel reservations at the request of close family members;
• Processes cases for payment according to the submitted requirements;
• Manages the contract for the provision of services for the legal protection of persons accused of alleged crimes in court proceedings before the Specialized Chambers;
• Keeps the register of accused persons and the list of their close family members, as well as stores and handles this data according to the legislation in force to protect personal data;
• Manages the process of compensating persons accused of alleged crimes in judicial proceedings before specialized chambers, declared innocent by omnipotent decision;
