The Minister of Justice, Blerim Sallahu, participated today in the ceremony marking the 26th anniversary of the establishment of the Kosovo Correctional Service. He raised highly its professionalism, integrity and transformational capabilities.
The ceremony was attended also by the president of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani.
In his remarks, minister Sallahu spoke of the role of the Ministry of Justice, a strategic partner in the transformation of the KCS, highlighting the capital projects such as: Lipjan Women Correctional Center, the House of Mothers with Children, the New Prizren Prison Project, the Expansion of the Forensic Psychiatry Institute Capacities and making the Dubrava Pavilion “D” operational. In addition, Sallahu
said the Government of Kosovo has proven that “our vision for a modern correctional system is not merely a rhetoric, but a reality that is being built through work and dedication”.
Internationally, minister Sallahu added, Kosovo is a part of the most important international networks such as the EuroPris and the ICPA, putting our correctional system on the map of the European cooperation. Furthermore, he mentioned the International Award for Excellence awarded by the International Prison Organization to the KCS, a testimony of the work appreciated and aligned with the highest global
standards.
Congratulating the KCS on its 26th anniversary, Sallahu repeated the support of the Ministry of Justice in guaranteeing a sustainable and reliable correctional system through new investments with high standards of training, modern technology and a firm focus on the protection of human rights.
