The Acting Minister of Justice, Blerim Sallahu, accompanied by the Mayor of North Mitrovica, Erden Atiq, today visited the Center for Social Affairs in North Mitrovica, as part of the global campaign “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence”.
At this meeting, Minister Sallahu and Mayor Atiq were received by the Director of the CSA in North Mitrovica, Edita Bilalli, the Director of Health and Social Affairs, Milicia Filipovic, as well as other officials, on which occasion there were discussed the work, challenges and achievements of the CSA in this municipality.
In his speech, Minister Sallahu emphasized the commitment of the Ministry of Justice to women having a decisive role in society, mentioning the employment of 300 women and girls in the Kosovo Correctional Service, as well as the increase in the number of leadership positions held by women.
Further, he stated that there is no lack of support for CSAs, on which occasion the support for social services and shelters has been increased from 400 thousand euros to over 5 million euros. Minister Sallahu assessed that both today and in the future, the provision of social services should be carried out without ethnic differences and any other form.
On the other hand, the Director of Health and Social Affairs, Milicia Filipovic, thanked Minister Sallahu for the visit and expressed her readiness for continued cooperation. Meanwhile, the Director of the Center for Social Affairs in North Mitrovica, Edita Bilalli, said that thanks to the work and commitment of the staff, there has been increased the number of services provided during the year.
