As part of the activities of the global campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence,” the Acting Minister of Justice, Blerim Sallahu, visited the non-governmental organization “Diakonie Kosova” in Mitrovica.
Minister Sallahu was briefed by Director Bernd Baumgarten about the programs offered at “Diakonie Kosova,” and their long contribution to the advancement of our society.
Minister Sallahu said he was happy and proud of individuals like Director Baumgarten having enthusiasm to work and contribute for Kosovo. Furthermore, he said the Ministry has taken measures, based on the applicable legislation, to support further the non-governmental organizations focusing on the empowerment of women.
Operating for around 25 years, with a staff of 80 people, the “Diakonie Kosova,” provides a wide range of programs, including: the Training Center with specialized departments; the Office for Sustainable Return and Reintegration of returnees from Germany to Kosovo; the Multiethnic Youth Center; the Open Garden to citizens; as well as the Farm employing persons with special needs.
This non-governmental organization benefited from the Ministry of Justice’s support schemes, for which they expressed their gratitude and their readiness for further cooperation and expansion of services.
