Justice System Stakeholders Gather to Finalize Justice Reform

Prishtina, 24/03/2026

Today, Deputy Minister of Justice, Genc Nimoni, opened a three-day workshop on the legal package stemming from the Joint Declaration of Commitment, with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Justice, the Kosovo Judicial Council, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, the Academy of Justice, the Anti-Corruption Agency, the Kosovo Police, as well as representatives of international partners and civil society organizations.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister Nimoni emphasized the importance of this workshop: “Along with other reform initiatives, these draft laws further complete the broad undertaking for the complete reform of the justice system, by creating and strengthening the mechanisms of integrity control, performance evaluation, disciplinary system for judges and prosecutors, while also standardizing and advancing the role of the Academy of Justice and training programs for judges and prosecutors,” said Deputy Minister Nimoni.

Further, Deputy Minister Nimoni added that the approval and implementation of these draft laws constitutes an important obligation within the framework of the Growth Plan instrument, which provides for financial support from the European Union.

In conclusion, the Deputy Minister called on all participants to ensure that the workshop serves as a constructive platform for discussion and the harmonization of positions, with clear objectives.

“I believe we all agree that it would be unforgivable for us, who bear the responsibility of developing and strengthening our justice system, to allow future judges and prosecutors to have integrity issues or to be incompetent or unproductive, or to maintain mechanisms that are ineffective and lack accountability,” concluded Deputy Minister Nimoni.
