Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, today received the Ambassador of Croatia to the Republic of Kosovo, Ms. Danijela Barišić, in a meeting where they discussed deepening cooperation in the field of justice and the need to further advance this cooperation.
During the meeting, the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of extradition between Kosovo and Croatia was emphasized as a necessary component for more effective and functional legal cooperation.
The issue of war crimes was also discussed as a topic of high sensitivity and particular importance for both countries.
“The atrocities of the war also remain an open and highly sensitive issue for both our countries—an open wound in society that requires maximum dedication, direct commitment, and a serious, clear, and concrete institutional approach,” said Minister Gërvalla.
Minister Gërvalla further emphasized that addressing these issues requires strong institutions and sustainable decision-making based on the rule of law.
“Without deep reform in the justice system, there can be neither a credible rule of law nor a strong, functional state,” she emphasized.
On the other hand, Minister Gërvalla also mentioned and praised the excellent relations between Kosovo and Croatia, describing Croatia as a friendly state and important partner of our Republic.
