As part of her visit to the Municipality of Ferizaj, Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, also visited the Center for the Protection of Women and Children “Shtëpia ime.”
Together with the Executive Director, Ms. Sevdije Kasumi-Bunjaku, Minister Gërvalla discussed the vital role of the center in ensuring protection, safety, and support for women and children who are victims of domestic and gender-based violence.
The discussion also focused on the need to continuously strengthen institutional mechanisms for rapid response and inter-institutional coordination.
“Protecting women and children from violence is neither a matter of public policy nor merely a statement of commitment. It is a red line for the state — an unconditional institutional and moral obligation that is non-negotiable and cannot be relativized,” Minister Gërvalla emphasized.
Furthermore, Minister Gërvalla praised the work and dedication of the staff, stressing that “this center represents an essential link in the chain of institutional protection, where professionalism and human commitment come together to provide not only safe shelter, but also dignity, stability, and real opportunities for reintegration into social life.”
According to Minister Gërvalla, the visit reaffirms the state’s inseparable responsibility to strengthen every mechanism that guarantees effective protection and an immediate response to all forms of violence.
“Our Republic stands clearly and unequivocally: in the face of violence, there is no silence, no tolerance, and no turning back,” Minister Gërvalla stated.
