Minister Gërvalla Visited the Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren: There Can Be No Strong State Without Strong Justice

Prishtina, 20/05/2026
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, visited the Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren, where she was received by Chief Prosecutor Mr. Petrit Kryeziu with whom she discussed the challenges, responsibilities, and the necessity of institutional cooperation aimed at strengthening the rule of law, increasing efficiency, and ensuring professionalism within the justice system.
Minister Gërvalla emphasized that there can be no strong state without strong justice, underlining that justice reform is not a political debate but a state-building process that is reshaping the foundations of the rule of law in the Republic of Kosovo.
“The package of five laws constitutes the foundation of this profound institutional transformation, with the goal of strengthening integrity, transparency, and accountability in the prosecutorial and judicial systems. Along this path, the operationalization of the State Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustifiable Assets and the Vetting process also represent clear steps toward a justice system that serves not narrow or clan interests, but the citizens of this Republic and the state of Kosovo,” Minister Gërvalla declared.
Furthermore, she stated that the time when the justice system tolerated impunity must never exist again.
“There is no alternative but to strengthen the rule of law, strengthen institutions with integrity, and guarantee equality before the law for everyone, without distinction. No one should be above the law,” Minister Gërvalla emphasized.
