As part of her visits to justice institutions, the Acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla visited today the Basic Court of Mitrovica, where she was received by the Acting President of the court Bekim Veliqi.
Minister Gërvalla stressed that justice reform remains an ongoing process, aiming to improve the functioning of institutions and increase efficiency in all links of the system, as part of strengthening the rule of law.
“A reliable judicial system is not measured only by its applicable laws. Rather its measured by its ability to implement such laws in a timely manner, with professionalism and without delay. It is precisely for this reason that strengthening institutional capacities remains one of the fundamental conditions for guaranteeing effective justice”, Minister Gërvalla declared.
Also, she underlined the importance of the independence and responsibility of justice institutions.
“Institutional independence and professional responsibility are not privileges of the system, but obligations to citizens and the Republic. The stronger the justice institutions, the stronger the rule of law and the citizens’ trust in it”, declared Minister Gërvalla.
In conclusion, Minister Gërvalla praised the commitment of the judges and staff of the Basic Court in Mitrovica, reiterating the importance of continuous institutional cooperation for the advancement of the justice system in the Republic of Kosovo.
“Strong justice is the safest guarantee of the Republic, and state is not strong without strong justice institutions”, said Minister Gërvalla.
