Minister Gërvalla visited the justice and security institutions in the Municipality of Mitrovica

Prishtina, 17/06/2026

As part of her visit to the Municipality of Mitrovica, the Acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla visited today the Probation Service, the Regional Office for Free Legal Aid and the Detention Center in this municipality.

Visiting the key justice and security institutions, she said justice is not an abstract process, rather a chain that depends on each link, ranging from legal support for citizens, to case management at different stages of the procedure, to the execution of detention measures.

“The communication with the staff brings out a reality that is not often seen from the outside, namely, the incessant work in conditions that are not always easy, high responsibilities and a workload that requires institutional and human discipline at the same time”, said Minister Gërvalla.

She emphasized that citizens’ trust in justice institutions rests on the result of the daily work of these structures.

“If a state performance is evaluated, then that evaluation happens here: not rhetorically, but in the way citizens are treated when they come into contact with the system. Any delay, any mistake, success or every good deed directly translates into trust or distrust in institutions”, the Minister said.

In conclusion, Minister Gërvalla repeated that strengthening these structures is not simply a technical issue, rather a political and state-building choice. She promised her unwavering commitment to strengthening justice where it counts most, every day strongly, without compromise and with full determination in implementation.
