In her capacity as the National Coordinator for Protection from Domestic Violence, Violence against Women and Gender-Based Violence, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla held a meeting today with the Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Ms. Albulena Haxhiu.
During the meeting, the National Coordinator Gërvalla informed the Acting President, Ms. Haxhiu, about the developments falling within her mandate that included the first meeting of the Coordination Group for Protection from Domestic Violence, Violence against Women and Gender-Based Violence, as well as the joint meeting held with non-governmental organizations and shelters that provide support to victims of violence.
Minister Gërvalla and the Acting President Ms. Haxhiu confirmed the joint institutional commitment to zero tolerance towards violence, as well as to strengthening mechanisms to combat domestic violence, violence against women and gender-based violence, in order to create a safe environment for the most vulnerable categories of society.
They also underlined the importance of continuous inter-institutional coordination and cooperation with civil society, with the aim of advancing policies and mechanisms that guarantee effective protection for victims and the prevention of all forms of violence.
