Minister Gërvalla Visits the Basic Court of Mitrovica – Skenderaj Branch

Prishtina, 01/07/2026

Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla visited today the Basic Court of Mitrovica – Skenderaj Branch. She was received by Mr. Valon Hajdini, acting Supervising Judge, and other judges and administrative staff of the branch.

During the meeting, Minister Gërvalla was informed first-hand on the current situation and performance of the branch, the caseload, the efficiency of case processing, the challenges facing the institution, and the measures taken to reduce the backlog of pending cases.

“Justice reform is not a political promise, but rather a state requirement. The package of five justice reform laws including the vetting process, and the operationalization of the State Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustifiable Assets comprise the main pillars of building a justice system that is more accountable, trustworthy, and fair for the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo,” said Minister Gërvalla.

She said also that the Republic of Kosovo cannot be built upon impunity, nor can it move forward with weak institutions.

“The justice system must be strong, professional, and uncompromising in the face of illegality, because this is who citizens’ trust is strengthened and the Republic itself consolidated,” stated Minister Gërvalla.

Finally, Minister Gërvalla emphasized that justice reform has no alternative and impunity is not an option for a state governed by the rule of law.
