Working Group for the Drafting of the Sub-Legal Act for the Awarding of the “Sali Çekaj” Prize Convened

The first meeting of the Working Group for the drafting and finalization of the Draft Sub-Legal Act for the Awarding of the “Sali Çekaj” Prize was held at the Ministry of Justice. It will determine the legal basis, procedures and criteria for the awarding of this prize to personalities that have made a special contribution to the development and advancement of the justice system in the Republic of Kosovo.
The meeting was also attended by the Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla who emphasized how important it was for such an award as “Sali Çekaj” Prize, with its significance and symbolism, to be based on a clear legal basis, ensuring its continuity and institutional integrity.
Minister Gërvalla honored Sali Çekaj describing him as a multidimensional personality, adding the Ministry of Justice may use this price to honor lawyers and justice professionals who have made and continue to make a valuable contribution to the reform and strengthening of the justice system.
During the meeting, the members of the working group emphasized the need for the draft sub-legal act to create a clear legal framework, which will determine objective and transparent standards for the awarding of the award, ensuring that the evaluation process is based on the principles of merit, professional integrity, impartiality and equality of candidates.
The drafting of this draft sub-legal act aims to institutionalize the awarding of the “Sali Çekaj” Award, ensuring that this award continues to be awarded on clear legal grounds and according to the highest standards of transparency, objectivity and meritocracy.
