Minister Gërvalla condemns the murder of a 25-year-old woman in Malisheva: Every circumstance must be investigated without compromise

Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, has strongly condemned the grievous murder of a 25-year-old woman in the village of Kërvasari in Malisheva, demanding a full, swift and uncompromising investigation by the justice and security bodies.

“I strongly condemn the grievous murder of a 25-year-old woman in Kërvasari in Malisheva. Violence against women is a crime and there will be zero tolerance towards it,” Gërvalla declared.

Further, Minister Gërvalla requested that all circumstances of the case be clarified and those responsible face justice.

“In this moment of pain and shock, we demand from the justice and security bodies a full, swift and uncompromising investigation, in order to clarify every circumstance of this event and those responsible face justice,” emphasized Minister Gërvalla.

She said that violence against women cannot be treated as a private matter or family conflict.

“Violence against women is not a private matter. It is not a family conflict. It is not a ‘household chore’. Violence against women is a crime and there will be zero tolerance for it. No woman should lose her life in the place that should be safest for her, in her own home,” said Minister Gërvalla.

Minister Gërvalla pointed out that the case constitutes another serious alarm for society and institutions, emphasizing the need for action and prevention of violence before it becomes irreversible.

“It is not enough to react after a life is lost. We must prevent violence before it becomes irreversible,” she declared.

In her capacity as the National Coordinator for Protection from Domestic Violence, Violence against Women and Gender-Based Violence, Minister Gërvalla has requested all responsible institutions to treat the case with the utmost seriousness and investigate all its circumstances.

“A woman has been murdered. In the face of violence against women, there can be no silence, excuses or indifference. There is only one answer, justice and only justice and zero tolerance for domestic violence, violence against women and gender-based violence”, declared Minister Gërvalla.

Finally, Minister Gërvalla expressed her most sincere condolences to the victim’s family and relatives.

“My deepest condolences to the family and relatives. My thoughts and heart are with them in these difficult moments and with all those who are facing this great loss”, said Minister Gërvalla.
