Today, the Ministry of Justice held a meeting with representatives of the delegation of the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), led by Victor Zaharia.
Initially, representatives of the Ministry of Justice welcomed the delegation and thanked them for their substantive and incentive reports aimed at improving the justice system, particularly in the field of the execution of criminal sanctions in the Republic of Kosovo.
During the meeting, there was discussed the continued advancement of the correctional system in relation to the implementation of the recommendations of this Council of Europe mechanism.
The Director of the Kosovo Correctional Service, Ismail Dibrani, presented the current status of the KCS, focusing on the finalization of primary and secondary legislation, the fight against corruption, reforms in rehabilitation programs, the operationalization of the institution for the treatment of persons with special needs, as well as infrastructure investments.
At the end of the meeting, there was reaffirmed the readiness to continue mutual cooperation in the field of justice and the rule of law in general.
