Prishtina, 12/06/2026

Caretaker Deputy Minister of Justice Genc Nimoni participated in the opening of the Regional Mediation Forum in Tirana, within the framework of which the regional project “SEE Mediation – Strengthening Mediation Systems in Southeastern Europe” was officially launched.

Deputy Minister Nimoni emphasized the importance of mediation as an efficient mechanism for resolving disputes, relieving the judicial system burden and increasing citizens’ access to justice.

“While the results speak for themselves, in 2025 alone, according to official statistics, 11,937 cases were resolved through mediation. These figures clearly show that mediation is gaining the trust of citizens,” said Deputy Minister Nimoni.

He said Kosovo has achieved significant results in the functionalization of mediation, both in criminal and civil cases, adding the last amendments to the law had expanded the mechanism to include the administrative field, bringing the justice system closer to European standards and best practices.

In this regard, Deputy Minister Nimoni thanked all institutional stakeholders and other partners for their continuous contribution to strengthening the mediation mechanism in the Republic of Kosovo, and stressed the importance of continuing cooperation for the further advancement of this mechanism in the service of citizens.

Representatives of justice institutions, judges, prosecutors, mediators and regional international partners attending the opening of the forum discussed the development of mediation systems, the exchange of experiences and the strengthening of regional cooperation in this field.

The “SEE Mediation” project aims to support the advancement of mediation systems in Kosovo, Albania and North Macedonia, in accordance with European standards and justice reforms.
