Deputy Prime Minister Gërvalla Visits Diakonie Kosova: “Social Inclusion Is Not a Political Choice. It Is a State Responsibility”

Prishtina, 16/05/2026

Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, visited the non-governmental organization Diakonie Kosova, headquartered in Germany and operating in Kosovo for approximately 25 years through its offices in Mitrovica and Fushë Kosova, where it offers a wide range of programs.

“During my visit to the organization Diakonie Kosova, I saw how social inclusion gains real meaning when it is translated into daily work and genuine care for people. There, it is not theory that speaks, but the work itself. It is the dedication of those who open their doors every day to women, girls, and families building a new beginning,” said Minister Gërvalla.

At the premises of Diakonie Kosova, Minister Gërvalla met with women and girls who, through training programs in tailoring, culinary arts, and hairdressing, are acquiring new skills and opportunities for greater independence. The importance of psychological support and healthcare services was also emphasized, providing people not only with essential services, but also with stability, confidence, peace of mind, and the support they need.

During the visit, Minister Gërvalla highlighted the importance of initiatives that contribute to social inclusion and the creation of equal opportunities for citizens, underlining that this work should not be viewed as one-sided assistance, but rather as cooperation that strengthens institutions, organizations, and communities alike.

“As institutions, we have an obligation to support, strengthen, and expand these well-operating models. Because social inclusion is not a political choice. It is a state responsibility,” Minister Gërvalla concluded.
