Government approves the new composition of the Bar Examination Commission

In its regular meeting held today, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo has approved the draft decision of the Ministry of Justice for the appointment of members of the Bar Examination Commission.

In her speech, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla said this decision comes as a result of the need to address a number of issues identified during the mandate of the current commission, which have affected the credibility of the examination process.

“The large number of complaints the Ministry of Justice has received is an indication of the need for more assessment practice consistency, unified and adequate implementation of the examination program and relevant legal provisions, and a higher level of transparency and professionalism to assess the results”, said Minister Gërvalla.

Therefore, to put in place a new commission with high professional integrity, Minister Gërvalla has proposed the new composition as follows:

Mr. Arian Gashi – Chairperson of the Commission, Mr. Ersan Qavolli – Deputy Member and Questioner/Deputy Questioner in criminal, substantive and procedural law;

For the subject of civil, substantive and procedural law – Mr. Lumni Sallauka, Deputy Chairperson, Mr. Arsim Hamzaj, Deputy Member;

For the subject of constitutional law and foundations of the judicial system – Ms. Anita Prenaj-Krasniqi, Member, and Ms. Suada Rama-Hamza, Deputy Member;

For the subject of commercial law, labor law and administrative law – Mr. Burim Shala, Member, Mr. Nehat Qelaj, Deputy Member;

For the subject of international law and European Union law – Mr. Bujar Muzaqi, member, and Ms. Rrezarta Lleshaj, deputy member.

At the end, Minister Gërvalla called for approval of proposal to strengthen meritocracy, credibility and transparency of the process, and for the proceeding of new composition of the Commission for approval in the Assembly, in accordance with the law.
