A delegation from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kosovo, headed by the Deputy Minister Abdul Ymeri, visited the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Albania, where they were hosted by Brikena Kasmi, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Justice.
The purpose of this visit was to obtain experiences from Albania regarding the implementation of electronic monitoring of alternative sanctions, which is being applied in Albania and it is intended to begin its implementation in Kosovo, too.
At this meeting, Deputy Minister Ymeri presented the works that are being done in reforming the justice system in Kosovo, including works that are being done for the introduction of electronic monitoring of alternative sanctions. During the meeting, the two counterparts agreed on a further cooperation and exchange of experiences in other areas of justice.
The Deputy Minister also held a meeting at the General Directorate of Probation of Albania, where he was hosted by the Director General Arben Sefgjini. In this meeting they discussed on the procedures, legislation and the ways of implementing electronic monitoring.
As it is well known, within the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kosovo operates the Probation Service, a service that deals with the execution of alternative sanctions and social reintegration of convicted persons.
