The Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla together with the Acting President Ms. Albulena Haxhiu held a joint meeting today with the Head of the Kosovo Judicial Council Mr. Rrustem Thaqi and the Head of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, Mr. Arian Gashi.

The focus of their discussion was the current justice system developments and the strategic priorities of independent justice institutions, as well as joint commitments to deepen reforms to ensure a more efficient, more professional, more transparent and fully independent judicial and prosecutorial system.

Minister Gërvalla stated the rule of law was not only a constitutional principle, but the foundation on which to build the citizens’ trust in the state and its institutions.

“It is for this reason that strengthening the justice institutions, preserving their integrity and guaranteeing full institutional independence remain one of the most important priorities for the Republic of Kosovo”, the Minister further added.

In addition, Minister Gërvalla stressed the inter-institutional coordination was a pillar of strengthening justice and the rule of law.

“Close inter-institutional cooperation is the key to reforming and strengthening a justice system that not only implements the law, but also strengthens the trust of citizens, guarantees equality before the law and consolidates the democratic state of law”, concluded Minister Gërvalla.
