As part of her activities in the Municipality of Gjilan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, visited the Basic Court in Gjilan, where she was received by the President of the Court, Venhar Salihu, Vice President Rilind Sermaxhaj, Judge Mevlide Shabani, and Court Administrator Shkëlqim Dushica.
During the visit, Minister Gërvalla was briefed on the daily work of the Basic Court in Gjilan, as well as on professional and institutional cooperation.
“The functioning of the courts is vital for guaranteeing the rule of law. However, challenges in case management and the need to further strengthen institutional and technical capacities remain necessary to increase the efficiency and credibility of the judicial system,” the Minister stated.
As part of the discussions, Minister Gërvalla reiterated her commitment to advancing justice reforms, including the operationalization of the State Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Assets, as well as a package of five draft laws currently under public consultation, as concrete steps toward increasing the integrity, accountability, and overall functionality of the entire system.
Finally, Minister Gërvalla expressed her gratitude to President Salihu, Vice President Sermaxhaj, Judge Shabani, and Administrator Dushica for their hospitality, cooperative approach, and commitment to strengthening inter-institutional cooperation and advancing the work of the court.
