The Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla presided over the meeting in which the five draft laws being part of the Joint Declaration of Commitment for justice reform were reviewed and finalized.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Justice Genc Nimoni as well as representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Kosovo Judicial Council, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council and the Academy of Justice.
In her speech, Minister Gërvalla said they had an open and professional discussion about, and harmonized, the provisions of these draft laws to ensure they were finalized in accordance with constitutional standards and international best practices.
“Justice reform is not merely a process involving legal amendment. Rather, it is a necessity to build a justice system that permits no compromise with integrity, that places accountability at its foundation and restores citizens’ trust in justice institutions”, declared Minister Gërvalla.
The Ministry of Justice expresses its commitment to implementing reforms that strengthen the rule of law in the Republic of Kosovo through inter-institutional dialogue and close cooperation with all stakeholders in the justice system.
