Minister Gërvalla: “Implementation of Bureau has no alternative”

The Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla held a farewell meeting with the Head of the EULEX Mission in the Republic of Kosovo Giovanni Pietro Barbano. They discussed involvement of the mission in the country and cooperation to further advance the rule of law processes.

In the meeting, Minister Gërvalla address the justice reforms also, saying they were necessary, irreversible and oriented to accountability, strengthening integrity and improving efficiency in all links of the system”.

The meeting also discussed the importance of concrete mechanisms in the fight against corruption and organized crime, laying particular stress on the functionalization of the State Bureau.

“In this regard, functionalization of the State Bureau for Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Assets, as discussed at the meeting, constitutes one of the most important pillars of justice reform, fight against corruption and organized crime, and it’s implementation has no alternative. The Bureau will happen. The Bureau will be implemented. There is no alternative to it”, declared Minister Gërvalla.

Minister Gërvalla spoke also about cooperation and exchange of experiences and officials’ professional gains, particularly in the field of the rule of law. Discussion was also made about cooperation with international partners to ensure the processes were translated into sustainable and measurable results.

“The rule of law involves uniform and impartial implementation and sustainable decision-making for each and situation. Institutional consolidation and strengthening of professionalism are crucial to a functional and reliable justice system”, said Minister Gërvalla.
