Minister Gërvalla: Kosovo Academy for Public Safety, a pillar of professional security training

The Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla together with the General Director of the Kosovo Correctional Service Ismail Dibrani visited today the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS) and met with Acting General Director Shpend Shabani.

Minister Gërvalla was informed during the visit about the work, development and main achievements of the Academy, including programs, institutional accreditation, international accreditation as well as theoretical and practical training facilities for the new generation of correctional officers.

Minister Gërvalla praised the Academy for Public Safety for its role in the professional training of officers of security institutions.

“The Kosovo Academy for Public Safety remains a key institution to ensure the training standards and professionalism in the public safety field are elevated. I appreciated the work and dedication of the Academy in raising continuously the training quality, with an emphasis on contemporary security challenges involving constant investment in knowledge, professional skills and human capacities”, stated Minister Gërvalla.

Minister Gërvalla and Director Dibrani also visited the premises of the Academy, and were informed of the investments made and were shown the facilities for the development of theoretical and practical process.

“Strong institutions are built by well-prepared professionals, while public safety requires readiness to respond to both traditional challenges and those arising from the digital space and new technologies”, said Minister Gërvalla.

Minister Gërvalla met also with the new generation of cadets training to join the Kosovo Correctional Service.

“I seized this opportunity to congratulated the new cadets on the path they have chosen and encouraged them to practice their profession with integrity, responsibility and dedication to public service. Undoubtedly, the Correctional Service is an important justice and security link, and the professionalism of this institution professional staff is remains a guarantee to the functioning of a democratic state and the rule of law,” said Minister Gërvalla.
