During her visit to Brussels, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla met with the Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Legal Affairs, Mr Ilhan Kyuchyuk. They discussed developments in the field of justice, as well as challenges related to strengthening the rule of law and combating corruption and organized crime.
“Emphasis was placed on issues affecting the integrity and functionality of the system, including the vetting process, the operationalization of the State Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Assets, as well as a package of five draft laws aimed at consolidating the legal and institutional framework,” said Minister Donika Gërvalla.
During the meeting, Minister Donika Gërvalla emphasized that the rule of law remains a fundamental guarantee for strengthening the rule of law and ensuring equality before the law for all citizens.
“Justice reforms are not an option, but a prerequisite for a functional state; and Kosovo will move them forward with determination, through a system that guarantees real justice, effectively fights corruption and organized crime, and makes our European path irreversible,” Minister Donika Gërvalla stated.
