Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, today visited the Basic Prosecution Office in Gjilan, where she met with Chief Prosecutor Arben Kadriu.
Gërvalla stated that the rule of law is the starting point and foundation of any functional justice system.
Among other things, she also spoke about the role of the Prosecution Office, which, she said, is a guarantor of the implementation of the law in practice through the exercise of criminal prosecution and the handling of cases in accordance with legal competences.
“The focus of the meeting was the need to strengthen capacities and increase professional support, including increasing the number of prosecutors and strengthening forensic services as support for the criminal prosecution process”, said Minister Gërvalla.
The meeting also addressed the importance of career progression and the professional development of prosecutors as a necessary element for improving performance and strengthening integrity within the prosecutorial system.
“I clearly reaffirmed my commitment, as well as that of the Ministry of Justice, to support this institution in the further progress and advancement of reforms in the prosecutorial system, as well as in every effort to strengthen the rule of law and increase effectiveness in practice,” declared Minister Gërvalla.
