Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla, together with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Albin Kurti, paid homage at the Adem Jashari Memorial Complex in Prekaz, in commemoration of the 28th anniversary of the KLA Epopee.
Appreciating highly the sacrifice of the Jashari family, Minister Gërvalla said it was during March 5, 6, and 7, 1998, that the most glorious Epopee of Liberation War was written and engraved in Prekaz.
“Surrounded by tanks, artillery and Serbian special forces in Prekaz, the Jashari family showed no fear or retreat. Rather, they stood where they were born, where their roots and history were, and told the world that freedom is not negotiable and that those who defend their land and their doorstep do not submit or surrender to Serbian state terror and murder,” she said.
In addition, she said the heroism and sacrifice of Adem Jashari, the legendary commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army, turned him into an eternal symbol of a freedom-loving people that chose freedom above all else, to the point of self-sacrifice.
The sublime sacrifice of the Jashari family, as Minister Gërvalla said, strengthened the determination of an entire nation to live freely.
“It was from their blood that the voice of Kosovo demanding dignity, justice and the right to live freely and independently in its own land arose. Prekazi remains forever the altar of Kosovo’s freedom, the place where Albanian resistance became eternal and where the sacrifice of a family turned into a light of the freedom and Kosovo state-building”, declared the Minister, expressing eternal glory for the heroic Jashari family, for the heroes of the nation and for the Epopee of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
