Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla, together with the Deputy Minister of Justice Genc Nimoni, received the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Jonathan Hargreaves, with whom they discussed the progress of justice reforms and the strengthening of institutions guaranteeing a firm rule of law and the full integrity of the justice system.
Minister Gërvalla praised highly cooperation with the United Kingdom, in particular cooperation on justice and rule of law, saying it was a permanent, sustainable and multifaceted cooperation.
“The Republic of Kosovo always appreciates their support for reform processes, strengthening the integrity and accountability of our institutions. In particular, it appreciates efforts of Britain to support survivors of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo and to address the gender-based violence,” she said.
In addition, Minister Gërvalla brought up the Vetting process and initiative reforms in the justice system, as well as full functioning of the Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Assets, describing them as prerequisite for a justice system that does not tolerate compromise.
“The fight against corruption and organized crime is a clear line of our mandate, and the Republic of Kosovo will always remain determined in making sure that any abuse is punished and every citizen enjoys real, accessible and uncompromised justice”, said Minister Gërvalla, and added that only in this way can the state strengthen its institutions, guarantee functional justice and transparency, and ensure that the rule of law remains a basic priority of the Republic of Kosovo.
