Minister Gërvalla received UN Coordinator in a meeting in which strengthening the rule of law was discussed

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla today received in a courtesy meeting the United Nations Development Coordinator in Kosovo Stephen O’Malley who was accompanied by the heads of agencies of the United Nations Team in Kosovo (UNKT).
During this meeting, Minister Gërvalla spoke about deepening cooperation between the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and the United Nations, with a particular focus on strengthening the rule of law and advancing reforms in the justice sector.
In this regard, Minister Gërvalla referred to the functionalization of the Bureau for the Confiscation of Unjustified Assets, as an important instrument in the fight against corruption and organized crime.
It was also emphasized the importance of advancing digitalization processes in the justice system with the aim of increasing efficiency, transparency and access to services for citizens.
During the discussion, Minister Gërvalla also paid special attention to the prevention and addressing of domestic violence, emphasizing the need for increased institutional coordination and continuous support for victims.
This meeting also discussed the importance of developing standardized and harmonized legislation, in accordance with international best practices, as a prerequisite for strengthening the rule of law and advancing the European Agenda.
Deputy Prime Minister Gërvalla thanked the United Nations representatives for their continued support and reiterated the commitment of Kosovo institutions to deepen cooperation in order to strengthen the justice system.
