Minister Gërvalla: The 100 new correctional cadets in the KCS, guardians of justice and integrity in the country

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla, along with Deputy Minister of Justice Genc Nimoni and the Director of the Kosovo Correctional Service Ismail Dibrani, participated in the Service Commencement Ceremony of the KCS 46th Generation of Correctional Cadets.

Describing the Kosovo Correctional Service as one of the essential links of the justice system, Minister Gërvalla said the professionalism, correctness and how the law is implemented in these institutions had a direct impact in the possibility of convicted persons returning one day to the society as a responsible citizen.

“As of today, 100 new correctional cadets will join the service and they will bring in new energy and great responsibility in a profession that requires discipline, integrity and self-control every day. They will be the first line to provide security in correctional and law enforcement institutions,” she said.

In addition, Minister Gërvalla informed that in the next coming months the new cadets would attend a six-month professional training at the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety to learn new knowledge and skills that is necessary to face the daily challenges of the profession and the responsibility in correctional institutions.

As the Minister said, in this regard the Republic of Kosovo has made important steps, which is also reflected in the Council of Europe’s reports and other international monitoring mechanisms.

“The Republic of Kosovo has continuously made important steps in this regard, which is also evidenced in the reports and assessments of the Council of Europe and other international mechanisms monitoring the treatment of persons deprived of liberty, and this progress will continue through the further strengthening of institutions that guarantee the implementation of the law and the functioning of justice”, said Minister Gërvalla.
