Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, together with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the Mayor of South Mitrovica, Faton Peci, and other members of the Government, visited today the house of Prof. Latif Berisha on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of his assassination.
From there, Minister Gërvalla announced that the house of Prof. Latif Berisha is being transformed into a museum house. She added that his assassination was not accidental, but was part of a clear strategy to destroy the intellectual heads of the country, to strike at the pillar of knowledge and to hinder the reconstruction of a free and educated Kosovo.
“On March 24, 1999, while the world was turning its attention to Kosovo and NATO aircraft began bombing the genocidal Serbian regime, that same dark force of crime continued its actions on the ground—cold, organized, and merciless,” said Minister Gërvalla.
According to her, the goal was to eliminate the brightest minds, weaken the layer of thought and hinder the future of an emancipated nation.
“Prof. Latif Berisha remains, to this day, an unparalleled personality, among the brightest minds of Kosovo,” praised Minister Gërvalla during this visit.
