Minister Gërvalla: The Law on Public Property must create legal certainty

The Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla opened today the workshop on the review and finalization of the Draft Law on Amending and Supplementing Law No. 08/L-125 on Public Property with the participation of all relevant stakeholders.
Minister Gërvalla said the amendment of this law was necessary to address challenges identified during its implementation, adding the reform success hinged on aligning it with the other legislation regulating public property issues.
She said the goal of the Ministry of Justice was to finalize through an inclusive process and fruitful discussion a clear draft to be processed as soon as possible for approval by the Government.
Additionally, she said the public property had been an area accompanied by numerous challenges over the years, adding the legal changes aimed at creating a clear and functional framework that would protected the public interest and created more favorable conditions for economic development and investments.
“At the end of the day our interest is to have a law to addresses the needs of businesses that are involved in their activities, areas affecting public property, but at the same time creates a clear, well-defined legal environment that would open the way forward”, said Minister Gërvalla.
During the two days of the workshop, the working group will review the comments received from the participating institutions, with the aim of harmonizing the provisions and finalizing the draft of the draft law, which will create a clearer, more functional and more appropriate legal basis for the administration of public property in the Republic of Kosovo.
