Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, today visited the Basic Court in Ferizaj, where she was received by the President of the Court, Mustafë Tahiri.

During the meeting, Minister Gërvalla and President Tahiri discussed the practical functioning of the court, the caseload, and the challenges of administering justice at the first-instance level.

On this occasion, Minister Gërvalla also praised the role of the Administrative Court, two weeks after it became operational, in reducing the caseload and improving the efficiency of the overall judicial system.

“The functioning of the courts and the progress of court cases remain the most realistic indicators of the condition of the judicial system. It is not statements, but the speed of case handling and the way the workload is managed that determine the credibility of the system in the eyes of citizens,” Minister Gërvalla said.

Furthermore, Minister Gërvalla stated that justice reform remains an ongoing proces aimed at improving the functioning of institutions and increasing efficiency at all levels of the system, as part of strengthening the rule of law.

“The independence of the judiciary and accountability in the exercise of duties must go hand in hand, as essential conditions for increasing citizens’ trust in justice,” Minister Gërvalla said.
