The Acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla visited today the Basic Prosecution Office of Mitrovica, where she was received by Chief Prosecutor Njazi Rexha and the prosecution office staff.

They discussed the institutional functioning of the prosecutorial system, and the challenges they meet in their work to guarantee efficiency and coordination in handling cases.

“The five-law justice reform and the need to increase accountability in the prosecutorial system are key pillars to strengthening and deepening the rule of law and strengthening institutional integrity. This process involves close inter-institutional cooperation, as a prerequisite for increasing efficiency, accountability and citizens’ trust in justice”, said Minister Gërvalla.

She added that the rule of law is not built solely on declarations, but on firm resolution to implement the law indiscriminately.

“The Republic is strongest when no one is above the law and the trust of its citizens is upheld. The rule of law is the true strength of the Republic! While reiterating that no one dares to be above the law, the Minister Gërvalla concluded saying: In Kosovo, the law is the only standard of equality”.
