The caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla visited today the village of Kalludër in Zubin Potok, where the presence of a mass grave has been confirmed.

During the visit, Minister Gërvalla was informed about the process developed so far and the steps taken within the framework of institutional efforts to find the truth and treat with full seriousness any information related to the fate of persons who disappeared by force during the last war in Kosovo.

She emphasized the issue of persons who disappeared by force remains one of the most serious wounds of the war in Kosovo and that finding their fate is an institutional, legal and moral obligation.

“The issue of persons who disappeared by force during the last war remains one of the most serious wounds of the war and one of the clearest testimonies of the crimes committed by the genocidal state of Serbia. In addition to thousands of innocent civilians, the then Serbian regime deliberately targeted the intellectual, academic and professional elite of Kosovo, in an attempt to strike at the very identity, memory and future of our people. Then, through the relocation and hiding of bodies in mass graves, it tried to erase the traces of these crimes. But the truth cannot be buried forever”, declared Minister Gërvalla.

In her words, every new location investigated, every mortal remains examined and every identity restored means a step closer to justice, historical truth and respect for the dignity of the victims and their families.

“This is not just a forensic process, but about restoring historical truth, confronting the crimes of the past and respecting the dignity of the victims and their families,” said Minister Gërvalla.

Minister Gërvalla emphasized that the Republic of Kosovo will continue its institutional commitment until the fate of each missing person during the war in Kosovo is revealed.

“Memory, truth and justice will remain our guides until the fate of the last missing person is revealed,” she said.
