The Minister of Justice, Blerim Sallahu, visited the Day Center for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Mental Problems “Dëshira”, which was established in 2001, and has over 120 active members.

The Minister said he was happy to visit the Center in person and praised as extraordinary the iron will and the dedication of “Dëshira” to train and integrate persons with mental problems. He was informed on the modules developed for the members of the organization after which he confirmed the support for them saying it was a moral and legal obligation towards the sensitive categories of our society.

Meanwhile, Dr. Nustret Shillova, the director of the organization, emphasized the close cooperation with the six Mental Health Centers. He said their work includes social and educational programs, as well as individual and group therapy, adapting to the needs of the members of the organization. He also singled out the Ministry of Justice-supported project that helps members of the association carry out activities in rehabilitation and socialization stages.

Finally, the Minister said he was proud of these people being active despite challenges they face, and engage and work to integrate in society.

The meeting was part of the Global Campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence”.
