Minister Sallahu visited the non-governmental organization “HandiKos”

In the course of his activities for the Global Campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence”, the Justice Minister, Blerim Sallahu, visited today the Handikos, a non-governmental organization operating Kosovo-wide, with 13 local offices and 14 Community-Based Rehabilitation Centers.

During the meeting, Minister Sallahu expressed his gratitude to the staff for their commitment and reconfirmed the support of the Ministry of Justice for organizations, especially those working with vulnerable categories.

As the Minister visited the service rooms in person, the HandiKos Director, Afrim Maliqi, and the professional staff, informed him about the activities of the organization representing 18,000 members with physical and combined disabilities of different ages, genders, and ethnicities.

Among the important projects singled out were: the project for early childhood interventions, the project for children with disabilities, as well as the project of home services for adult members, supported by the Ministry of Justice.

In addition to providing services to its members, “HandiKos” has advocated, lobbied and participated in the creation, amendment and monitoring of the implementation of the legal infrastructure in the field of the rights of persons with disabilities.
