Today the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Albin Kurti appointed the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla as National Coordinator for Protection from Domestic Violence, Violence against Women and Gender-Based Violence.

In this role, Minister Gërvalla will lead and coordinate the inter-institutional cooperation to strengthen mechanisms for preventing and addressing domestic violence and violence against women.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that the Government remains committed to combating violence, and cited the concrete actions taken in recent years, such as support for shelters, improvement of the legal framework, expansion of the Free Legal Aid for victims, approval of the Law on Compensation for Crime Victims, and implementation of the National Strategy for Protection from Domestic Violence and Violence against Women (2022-2026).

“We are continuing our efforts to eradicate violence against women. We are treating violence against women as a joint institutional and social responsibility,” said the Prime Minister Kurti
