The Third Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Horizontal Facility III Programme Beneficiaries
was held today, on 18 November, with organization and support of the Council of Europe and
the Office of the European Union in Kosovo.

Mr. Genc Nimoni, Chief of Cabinet and Senior Advisor to the Minister of Justice, Mr. Blerim
Sallahu, who was present in the meeting, emphasized, in his speech, the importance of
strengthening quality and efficiency of Justice, and the proper inter-institutional cooperation.

Among others, Nimoni placed special emphasis on two important issues: the finalization of
the Justice Reform, including the legal acts arising from the Joint Statement of Commitment,
and implementation of the Prosecutorial Council Reform, now that the legal amendments to
the KPC have taken effect and the significance of implementing such changes.

In addition, Mr. Nimoni spoke of finalizing the Draft Law on the Realization of Trial within a
Reasonable Time and its proceeding to a vote after the government is formed, and also of the
significance of the development and implementation of the CEPEJ indicators already
included in the Rule of Law Strategy.

Finally, gratitude was expressed to the Council of Europe and the European Union for
supporting the reforms that strengthen accountability, efficiency and quality in the justice
system.
