The Government of the Republic of Kosovo has adopted the Draft Law on the State Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustifiable Assets, and five other draft laws advancing justice reform.

This comprehensive legislative package represents a significant step toward strengthening the rule of law, enhancing integrity and accountability, and further bolstering the justice system in the Republic of Kosovo.

The Draft Law on the State Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustifiable Assets outlines the establishment, organization, and competencies of the Bureau, as well as the procedures for verifying and confiscating unjustifiable assets.

As part of the justice reform, the Government also approved the Draft Law on the Recruitment, Performance Evaluation, Integrity Check, and Status of Judges and Prosecutors. This draft law establishes the rules governing the recruitment, performance evaluation, integrity controls, and status of judges and prosecutors, as well as other matters related to the exercise of their functions.

Another adopted draft law is the Draft Law on the Disciplinary Liability of Judges and Prosecutors aiming to regulate the disciplinary liability system by defining the principles, procedures, competent bodies, and disciplinary measures applicable to specific breaches of professional duties.

The package also includes the Draft Law on Amending and Supplementing the Law on the Kosovo Judicial Council and the Draft Law on Amending and Supplementing the Law on the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, aimed at further advancing the legal framework and the functioning of key justice system institutions.

Also, the Draft Law on the Academy of Justice has been approved, aiming to ensure high-quality, continuous, and standardized professional development for judges, prosecutors, and other justice system professionals.

These draft laws advance reforms and strengthen the rule of law by building a professional, independent, efficient, and accountable justice system that serves the citizens and the public interest.
