Minister Gërvalla calls for political responsibility: Evading meetings amounts to disrespect for citizen’s trust and will

The Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla has called for political responsibility, dialogue and cooperation between political entities, with the aim of overcoming the current institutional situation in the country.

“Let us meet! Let us talk! Let us contribute to the necessary solution for the country! This means political maturity and responsibility for your country. Everything else means evading the responsibility and a contempt for the trust and will of citizens”, said Minister Gërvalla, referring to the meeting called by the Caretaker President, Ms. Haxhiu.

According to Minister Gërvalla, political responsibility means the willingness to sit around a dialogue table, trying to find a real solution.

“Those seeking solution are not noisy and won’t run away from the dialogue table. Whoever seeks responsibility does not make noise and won’t evade a meeting that can produce an agreement. And whoever puts the Republic above the party and personal interests does not make noise and does not use the institutional crisis as a political instrument”, emphasized Minister Gërvalla.

She stated that Kosovo needs no other institutional crisis, but rather a political responsibility, dialogue and agreement, emphasizing that party interests must give way to the interests of the Republic.

“The agreement is not a political weakness. It is a responsibility for the state. Avoiding the institutional crisis is not a matter of one party, but an obligation of all political entities towards the citizens of Kosovo and towards the Republic itself”, she said.

Furthermore, Minister Gërvalla assessed that all political entities should contribute maximally to resolving the issue of the President by proposing concrete names for a consensual president.

„We are not required to agree on everything. We are required to have the political courage to find agreement on what is necessary for the functioning of the state,“ said Minister Gërvalla.
