Biography of the Minister of Justice Mrs. Albulena Haxhiu
Albulena Haxhiu was born in Pristina, on May 11, 1987, where she lives with her family. She is married and the mother of three children, Mali, Tomorri, and Andrra.
She completed her studies at the Faculty of Law at the University of Prishtina to continue with post-graduate studies at the University of Southeast Europe, in criminal law.
She started her political activity in September 2010, becoming a member of the VETËVENDOSJE! Movement, which at that time was a non-parliamentary political organization.
In December 2010, the VETËVENDOSJE! Movement competed for the first time in the extraordinary parliamentary elections, in which case in those elections as a 23-year-old Albulena Haxhiu was elected as a member of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, as the youngest member of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo in that legislature. Albulena Haxhiu managed to be re-elected deputy of three other legislatures and was always among the most voted female deputies.
In the fifth and sixth legislatures, she led the Committee on Legislation, one of the most important committees of the Assembly, and the subcommittee on mandates, immunities, and regulations of the Assembly. Her commitment has always focused on topics related to the rule of law, social, social and gender equality.
In the 2019 elections, the VETËVENDOSJE Movement! wins the parliamentary elections, in which case in the Kurti I Government, Albulena Haxhiu is appointed Minister of Justice in the Government Cabinet of Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
After the February 14, 2021 elections, Mrs. Haxhiu was again appointed Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kosovo in the Kurti II Government, a position he still holds today. Based on the legislation in force and Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s decision, Albulena Haxhiu is also the National Coordinator for preventing and addressing cases of domestic and gender-based violence.
Albulena Haxhiu is a member of the Presidency of the VETËVNDOSJE Movement! and in 2022, with the establishment of two new organizations for women and youth, she was elected President of the organization Women for VETËVENDOSJE!.
