Domestic violence is an old phenomenon in society, which can be encountered anywhere in the world, affects the entire human society and extends to all social levels, where the Republic of Kosovo is no exception. Violence is quite specific and appears in different forms, therefore it is necessary to treat it in a special way and very seriously by the relevant institutions.
In order to record cases of violence, from March 2020, the Ministry of Justice has owned the database for recording cases of domestic violence, which in the past was supported by the EU office in Kosovo, and implemented by the office of UN Women in Kosovo.
This system is designed to function as an integrated database from 6 institutions that provide services in cases of domestic violence, such as:
Police, Prosecutor’s Offices, Courts, Centers for Social Work, Victim Advocates and Shelters.
The Ministry of Justice, on its own initiative, will provide monthly statistics from this database, which you can find in the links below.
